  • In a letter to his hometown, Kondou Isami mentioned a sword signed by Kunihiro that belonged to Hijikata, and wrote that it measured roughly 59cm. However, because Kunihiro was said to have never made a sword less than 60cm long, and the fact that it was a uncommon sword in the Bakumatsu period, there are some who say that the sword is a fake.
  • Because of a disarmament political measure which was implemented after World War II, a number of swords, including Horikawa Kunihiro, were confiscated. Most of the confiscated swords (approximately 200.000) were dumped at sea. About 5600 swords were recovered by the Japanese state and returned to their owners, but because Horikawa Kunihiro is confirmed as not being in the possession of the Hijikata household, the possibility of the sword actually existing today is very low.
  • Like Kane-san, he bears the three-leaf clover crest of Hijikata Toshizou.
  • He enjoys doing chores and helping others. He is Izuminokami Kanesada's partner, and self-proclaimed assistant. You could say he's something like a wife? (From an official tweet)
