  • As an apology for the delay, 1000 koban has been given as compensation to players who have participated the Regiment Battle event until 14:00.
  • The Expert map of the Regiment Battle event has been implemented. There, Higekiri will drop at the boss! It's a difficult map, but please challenge it!
  • Level up display issues in the event have now been fixed.

December 29

  • Update: If a player clears a map from Regiment Battle and attempts to skip through multiple Results screens by clicking rapidly in succession, they may encounter a visual bug regarding which swords have leveled up. We are currently investigating the issue, and we apologize for any inconvenience and confusion.
  • The Regiment Battle event has begun. Regiment Battle is an event that uses all 4 teams to defeat consecutive enemy teams. Beating the enemies will earn you 'Otoshidama' which can be used to claim rewards, one of which is the new Touken danshi Hizamaru! Please refers to the event page for details.
  • The event's Expert map of the event will be added after the maintenance session on the 30th. Higekiri will be a boss drop there!
  • 'Army Provisions' and 'Double Boxes', special items for the Regiment Battle event, can now be purchased at the Shop. Please take advantage of the bargain sets available.
  • The Low-Level Sword Training Campaign has ended.

December 28

  • The Touken Ranbu support team will be on holiday from December 29th to January 3rd. Any inquiries will be addressed on the 4th. Access to the game will not be affected.

December 26

  • The battle sound effects issue occurring for some Google Chrome players has been confirmed to be linked to using an older version of Google Chrome. Updating Google Chrome to the latest version and clearing the browser's cache and cookies should resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconveniences and disruptions this issue may have caused.
  • The new 'Regiment Battle' event will begin after the 2015/12/29 maintenance.

  • We are currently investigating an issue where Google Chrome users will hear battle sound effects play repeatedly and persist even after a battle has finished. We appreciate your patience as we work on fixing this issue and we apologize for the inconvenience.
  • The Low-Level Sword Training Campaign has been extended until the 2015/12/29 maintenance at 14:00 JST (GMT+9).

  • The Bicchuu no Kuni, Bungo no Kuni, and Satsuma no Kuni (備中国、豊後国、薩摩国) servers that were expanded on November 17th have now reached full capacity. Server space has been expanded on the Bingo no Kuni, Mutsu no Kuni, and Chikuzen no Kuni (備後国、陸奥国、筑前国) servers.

  • The Low-Level Sword Training Campaign has been implemented. This campaign has easy maps for training swords under Lv. 40. Many swords will be needed for the 'Regiment Battle' event planned for the coming new year. Let's prepare your forces for the 'Regiment Battles'!
  • A new horse named 'Aoge' is given as a reward for clearing the campaign's second map.
  • In the Shop, you may now open all Koban boxes with one click, changed from previously having to open them one by one.
  • Lightly damaged swords no longer use their medium/heavy damage lines in the citadel.

  • The new background "Autumn (Night) Garden" has been implemented. It may be purchased in the Backgrounds menu. Clicking on the stone lantern will make insect sounds.

  • The Underground Treasure Chest 3 event has been implemented. Please refer to the event page for details.
  • The new toudan Gotou Toushirou has been implemented. He is guaranteed to drop if the event requirements are met.
  • The horse icon on the battle screen has been improved.
  • Horses Shiroge (白毛) and Kage (鹿毛) has been added to the game. These can be obtained from the Underground Treasure Chest 3 event.

  • The Village of Treasures event has ended.
  • The Expedition Enhancement campaign has ended.
  • The Village of Treasures Support Set and Village of Treasures Support Set (Large) have been removed from the Shop.

  • The Yamashiro no Kuni, Yamato no Kuni, and Mino no Kuni (山城国、大和国、美濃国) servers that were expanded on October 15th have now reached full capacity. Server space has been expanded on the Bicchuu no Kuni, Bungo no Kuni, and Satsuma no Kuni (備中国, 豊後国, 薩摩国) servers.

  • A new set item Village of Treasures Support Set (Large) is on sale for a limited time. For details, please go to Shop.
  • A bug where archers being shown as light infantry when made using the Create Troops x10 function has been fixed.
    • As this is a display bug, all of the troops that were made were still archers.

November 10

  • The Create Troops x10 function has been added in Armory
    • Troops will be created in tens at once. When pressing the Create Troops x10 button on the Troops page, if there are enough resources, 10 troops will be created according to the inputted resources. E.g. If the Create Troops x10 function is used on an all50 recipe, then 500 of each resource will be used. Also, if there aren't enough resources the function will not work.
  • Changes in ofuda usage when creating troops have been implemented
    • When using ofuda with Create Troops x10, there will be no failures in all troops, and there will be guaranteed gold troops in quantities depending on the type of ofuda used. The ofuda type and corresponding quantities are as follow:
      1. Plum: 2 gold troops
      2. Bamboo: 4 gold troops
      3. Pine: 6 gold troops
      4. Fuji: 10 gold troops
  • The maximum number of troops that can be stored has been increased by 60, making the new limit 400. You may purchase extra storage space at the Shop.

  • An emergency maintenance session was held today at 18:00-19:00.
  • Customers who are confirmed to have played between 15:00 and 18:00 have received 1000 koban as an apology.
    • Please confirm the reception in your inbox. To the many customers who were forcefully disconnected, we deeply apologize.
  • From the 11/2 14:00 maintenance session onwards, battle record display issues have been fixed.
  • Compensation for the reward reception issues in the Village of Treasures event are now complete.

  • The Mutsu no Kuni and Chikuzen no Kuni (陸奥国、筑前国) servers that were expanded on September 28th have now reached full capacity.
  • Server space will be expanded on the Yamashiro no Kuni, Yamato no Kuni, and Mino no Kuni (山城国、大和国、美濃国) servers after 2015/10/15, 20:30 (GMT+9). The game will not be undergoing a maintenance.

October 14

  • The interface for selecting troops to equip to your swords on the Formation menu has been modified. It will now group duplicates of the same equip and display the number owned next to its name (ex. [Gold Catapult x 9]).
  • You may now modify the equipment of a sword that is currently under repair.
  • A warning and confirmation dialog will now display whenever the player attempts to continue their sortie with at least one severely damaged sword.
  • When changing Backgrounds, there will now be a confirmation pop-up whenever the background has been successfully changed.

  • A new stage, Ikedaya Inn 1F (池田屋一階), has been added to the Memory of Ikedaya.
  • About the Ikedaya Inn 1/F First Clear Rewards
    • Clearing the the boss for the first time at the Memory of Ikedaya: Ikedaya Inn 1F map will yield items called Gift 1, Gift 2, and Gift 3. These Gifts will be useful in the future.
  • Nihongou is now obtainable from the boss node of Ikedaya Inn 1F (池田屋一階)
  • A new item - Expedition Recall Pigeon (遠征呼び戻し鳩) has been implemented.
    • It is a convenient item that can instantly return an expedition team to the citadel.
    • Unlike the forced recall, the expedition will be considered completed.
    • This item will not change whether the expedition will be successful or not.
    • To use this item, go to the expedition page. On the information column at the right side of the page, there will be a new button which reads Expedition Recalling Pigeon. If you have sent a team to the selected expedition, the button will light up. To use the item, just click the button.
  • To commemorate the Expedition Recall Pigeon (遠征呼び戻し鳩), a special item set can be purchased at a discounted price from Shop for a limited time.
  • Start of the Repair (手入) campaign.
  • The rate for reaching the boss node of the stage Memory of Samurai: Hakata Bay has been raised.
  • Anti-cheating security measures have been improved. This will not affect the gameplay.

  • Another maintenance was executed from 14:00 to 15:30 JST (GMT+9) in order to adjust the difficulty of the event.
    • Difficulty: Easy and Difficulty: Medium maps in the Uncharted Village of Challenges (秘境 腕試の里) Practice event have been adjusted so now it's impossible for the players to encounter the dangerously strong enemy there. The amounts of beads obtainable from both maps have been tweaked accordingly.
    • Players have been given additional 1000 koban as a token of apology. Koban can be claimed from player's mailbox.
  • The war records from this event will be reset once the event is finished.

  • The limited time event, Uncharted Village of Challenges (秘境 腕試の里) Practice, has been implemented

  • An emergency maintenance was carried out from 20:15 to 22:15 JST (GMT+9) in order to adjust the difficulty of the event.

  • A limited time event called Uncharted Village of Challenges (秘境 腕試の里) Practice is scheduled to be held from 29th September to 6th October 2015.
  • The event will test a new mechanic in which the players must draw cards with various effects as they advance in the battlefield and collect beads.
    • Players will be given rewards according to the number of beads they collected.
  • The expiration date for the serial codes announced during Tokyo Game Show 2015 has been set.
    • Tokyo Game Show Nico Live Bonus (東京ゲームショウ ニコ生特典) can be claimed until the end of October 2015

    • Successfully completing expeditions over six hours are guaranteed a small Koban box as a reward, while completing expeditions that are ten hours or over are guaranteed a medium Koban box.

  • The wording in Recollection 10: Why There’s So Many Toushirous (藤四郎だらけなのは) has been modified.

  • The stage clear data for the War Training Expansion Event has been reset. Atsushi Toushirou, Hirano Toushirou and Mikazuki Munechika's drop rate on the boss node of Stage 4 (Nihongou Search) has been increased.
    • The drop rates remain unchanged for Hakata Toushirou and Akashi Kuniyuki on the boss node of Stage 3 (Search Training) and Nihongou on the boss node of Stage 4 (Nihongou Search).
  • The supplementary Enhanced Expedition campaign has ended.
  • The Support Pack Sale campaign, the fourth supplementary campaign for the event, has begun.
    • Two item sets are being sold at discounted price

August 25

  • The stage clear data for the War Training Expansion Event has been reset. Iwatooshi's drop rate on the boss node of Stage 4 (Nihongou Search) has been increased.
    • The drop rates remain unchanged for Hakata Toushirou and Akashi Kuniyuki on the boss node of Stage 3 (Search Training) and Nihongou on the boss node of Stage 4 (Nihongou Search).
  • The supplementary Equipment Creation campaign has ended.
  • The Enhanced Expedition campaign, the third supplementary campaign for the event, has begun.
    • Receive bonus resource rewards when completing any 3:00:00 expeditions.
    • Obtaining a Great Success will also reward a bonus Help Token, in addition to any you may already receive for a Great Success under normal conditions.
  • A new Background has been added, featuring the standard garden with a selection of tea cakes.
  • The ability to sort the sword inventory by "Swords with O-mamori" "Swords with Horses," and "Swords with Troops" has been added. It is located under the drop down menu labeled with "全て" (All swords).
  • For those who have pre-ordered the Nendoroid Mikazuki Munechika figure, we have added a form to input the pre-order bonus serial code. This banner, labeled "シリアルコード入力はこちら" (Input Your Serial Code Here), is located under the main game screen. This form will be used for all other promotions that include serial code bonus items. To input the serial code:
  1. Click the "Input Your Serial Code Here" banner.
  2. Select the promotion that you would like to input your serial code for. The Nendoroid Mikazuki Munechika promotion is labeled "ねんどろいど三日月宗近 封入得点" (Nendoroid Mikazuki Munechika Included Special Bonus)
  3. Enter your serial code to receive your bonus items in-game.
  • Please also read the guidelines for using the Serial Code Input form:
    • If you input an incorrect serial code 5 times, you will be unable to input a serial code for the next 24 hours.
    • If you input an incorrect serial code 10 times, you will no longer be able to input serial codes until you contact Customer Support.
    • If an account has already claimed bonus items from a specific campaign, and a different serial code for the same campaign is input for the same account, the player cannot obtain another set of bonus items. However, the second code remains unused, and can still be applied to an account that has not yet received those bonuses.
    • The possible characters used in serial codes are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z
    • Codes are single-use only.
    • The use of a serial code cannot be cancelled once applied to an account.
    • Serial codes cannot be reissued.
  • Atsushi Toushirou and Doudanuki Masakuni have had their names revised. Related voiceover lines have also been adjusted accordingly.

  • The Bizen no Kuni, Sagami no Kuni, and Yamashiro no Kuni (備前国、相模国、山城国) servers that were expanded on August 3rd have now reached full capacity.
  • Server space will be expanded on the Yamato no Kuni, Mino no Kuni, and Bichuu no Kuni (大和国, 美濃国, 備中国) servers after 2015/08/19, 18:00 (GMT+9). The game will not be undergoing a maintenance.

August 18

  • The stage clear data for the War Training Expansion Event has been reset. Tonbokiri's drop rate on the boss node of Stage 4 (Nihongou Search) has been increased.
    • The drop rates remain unchanged for Hakata Toushirou and Akashi Kuniyuki on the boss node of Stage 3 (Search Training) and Nihongou on the boss node of Stage 4 (Nihongou Search).
  • The supplementary Repair campaign has ended.
  • The Equipment Creation campaign, the second supplementary campaign for the event, has begun.
    • During the campaign, the chance of creating silver (上) and gold (特上) troops is increased.
    • Additionally, it is not possible to fail troop creation.
  • A new Background has been added, featuring the standard garden with an extra large onigiri.
  • The game will now issue a warning dialog to the player if they attempt to enter a battlefield with a team whose average level exceeds the level cap of the selected stage.
  • All instances of a battlefield's level cap being written as "Level limit: Lv. 99 and below" have now been changed to "Level limit: No cap."

August 13

  • We are planning to revise the readings for Atsu Toushirou and Doutanuki Masakuni's names. After consulting with scholars and taking customs and other matters into consideration, Nitroplus has determined that the readings for Atsu Toushirou and Doutanuki Masakuni will change to Atsushi Toushirou and Doudanuki Masakuni respectively.
  • These changes will be implemented in a maintenance at the end of August. More details are to follow. No other name changes are planned at the moment.

August 11

  • The War Training Expansion Event has begun. Please check the event page for more details.
  • The supplementary Repair campaign has begun.
    • Repair times are halved. The resource costs required to repair swords remains unchanged.
  • A new Background has been added, featuring the standard garden with various sweets and desserts.
  • New Recollections have been added for Nihongou.
  • The average level limit for experience and resources on each battlefield is now displayed to the right of the battlefield selection screen in red text.
    • Experience points, sword drops, and resource node drops cannot be received if your team's average level surpasses the level limit indicated for the battlefield.
  • The background image for the Armory has been updated.

August 7

  • The Expedition Enhancement campaign has begun.
  • The option to dismantle multiple troops on the same page simultaneously in the Armory has been added. Please note that you cannot select multiple soldiers across different pages to dismantle at the same time.

August 6

  • A new event is scheduled from August 11 to September 8, 2015. It will be an event where the player can strengthen their inexperienced swords and have opportunities to obtain rare swords.
  • In addition, there will be a chance to obtain the new sword Nihongou! While Nihongou will be included with the upcoming new stage, the player will first have a chance to obtain him during the event! More details will follow at a later date.
  • There will be a maintenance on the 7th of August, 2015 from 14:00 - 15:00 to implement the start of a campaign. Please note that the game will be unavailable during this time.

August 4

  • A new Background has been added, featuring the standard garden with onigiri.
  • After buying the background, the player can choose to arrange the onigiri on the left or right side of the citadel by assigning the appropriate background version in the menu.
  • Fixed a bug in which the current HP values would be displayed instead of the maximum HP values for swords assigned to the first team.

August 3

  • The Bungo no Kuni, Satsuma no Kuni, Bingo no Kuni, Mutsu no Kuni, and Chikuzen no Kuni (豊後国、薩摩国、備後国、陸奥国、筑前国) servers that were expanded on July 7th have now reached full capacity.
  • Server space will be expanded on Bizen no Kuni, Sagami no Kuni, and Yamashiro no Kuni (備前国、相模国、山城国) after 2015/08/03, 15:00 (GMT+9). The game will not be undergoing a maintenance.

  • A new Background has been added, featuring the standard garden with a dango and pillow accessory.
  • After buying the background, the player can choose to arrange the dango on the left or right side of the citadel by assigning the appropriate background version in the menu.
  • Additionally, we will be releasing one new background a week for the next 5 weeks.

July 22

  • A new stage has been added to Memory of Ikedaya: Ikedaya Inn 2F.
    • All battles in Ikedaya Inn 2F are nighttime indoor battles.
    • In addition to not being able to use Horses, because the battles take place within a narrow, indoor space, additional restrictions apply.
    • Oodachis and Naginatas have their effective ranges reduced to 1 (e.g. they may only attack one enemy at a time).
    • Catapults and Archers can be equipped, but will not attack during the long-range attack phase of any battles in 6-3. Only Musketeers are able to participate in the long-range attack phase.
  • Double Attack (二刀開眼) has been added.
    • If one team contains at least one Uchigatana and one Wakizashi, there is a chance of triggering a Double Attack during any battle. Any combination of Wakizashi and Uchigatana are possible.
    • First, the Wakizashi attacks to peel off the enemy's troops. Then, the Uchigatana follows-up with an attack to the now defenseless enemy. It is a powerful attack whose effectiveness increases the higher the enemy's Leadership status.
    • The probability of activating Double Attack is determined by the swords' Killing Blow stat.
  • The Summer (Night) background has been added.
  • The new Rarity-3 Uchigatana class has been added.
    • Izuminokami Kanesada, Ookurikara, and Doutanuki Masakuni have been reclassified as Rarity-3 Uchigatanas. They maintain their previous stats as Tachis, and gain an advantage in night battles and indoor battles. They are no longer able to equip Heavy Cavalry, but may now equip Catapults.
    • Following the maintenance, any Ookurikara, Izuminokami Kanesada, and Doutanuki Masakuni swords the player possesses will have all of their equipment removed and returned to the inventory. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
  • A new Recollection has been added.
  • Fixed a bug in which a player's PvP opponents' troop stat would display as 0.

July 21

  • The long-awaited new stage for Memory of Ikedaya will be released on July 22nd. It is a stage in which Tantous, Uchigatanas, and Wakizashis will have an advantage while fighting in a narrow, indoor inn.
  • Also, a new attack mechanism called "Double Attack" (二刀開眼 (にとうかいがん)) will be implemented. Uchigatana and Wakizashi on the same team will have a chance of launching a powerful double attack at the same time.
  • A new class of Rarity-3 Uchigatanas has been established. These Rarity-3 Uchigatanas will have stats comparable to those of Tachis, but with the added benefit of being able to use the long-range equipment of an Uchigatana.
  • Izuminokami Kanesada, Ookurikara and Doutanuki Masakuni will be recategorised as Rarity-3 Uchigatana. Even though they will be reclassified, there are no plans to decrease their stats, and they will now have an advantage in night and indoor battles. In addition, we are planning to increase some of their stats to better emphasize their strengths as Uchigatanas.
  • There will be no changes made to these swords' personalities, dialogue, etc.
  • Teams sent on expeditions containing Ookurikara, Izuminokami Kanesada, and/or Doutanuki Masakuni may fail if they are scheduled to return after the maintenance.
  • Following the maintenance, any Ookurikara, Izuminokami Kanesada, and Doutanuki Masakuni swords the player possesses will have all of their equipment removed and returned to the inventory.

  • Bug Fixes and Adjustments
    • Minor corrections have been made for some item names.
    • Fixed a bug where the wind chime sound would still play even when the mute button was on.
    • Fixed a bug where the destroyed line wouldn't play when Protection Charms activated in battle.
    • The summer background has been changed so that instead of clicking anywhere on the background, only clicking the area around the wind chime will play the wind chime sound.

  • Upcoming Content
    • A new map is currently in development for Memory of Ikedaya which will be set inside Ikedaya Inn. As battles will take place indoors, swords with high mobility such as Uchigatana, Wakizashi and Tantou will be able to take on an even more active role.
    • A new combat mechanism called Dual Awakening (二刀開眼) is planned for implementation. It will be a powerful combination attack carried out by Uchigatana and Wakizashi during indoor battles.

  • An emergency maintenance was conducted from 14:00 - 15:00 (GMT+9).
  • Rectified a system exploitation which allowed players to advance through maps without undergoing battles.
  • This lead to an increase on the server load and prevented other players from accessing the game properly.
  • As such, appropriate measures shall be taken against any players found engaging in malpractice through the use of macro hack tools.

  • New content:
    • The new limited time event, The Underground Treasure Chest (地下に眠る千両箱), has begun. Upon clearing the 50th floor, all users will be granted Hakata Toushirou, Koban, and gold troops.
    • The summer background has been added. By clicking the background, players will be able to listen to the wind chime.
    • A new item, Sakura Bento (桜弁当(並)), has been added to the Shop. By using this item, all swords in the party will recover and enter Sakura-Fubuki status. Costs 300 DMM Points.
  • Adjustments:
    • The price of the Dango has been reduced to 200 DMM Points. Players who have previously purchased Dango from the shop will, for each one purchased, be gifted the same number of Sakura Bento. The gifted Sakura Bento can be found in the mailbox.
    • The upper limit for all resources has been set to 999,999.
    • The upper limit for request tokens has been set to 9,999.
  • Bug fixes:
    • Fixed a bug wherein the repair time of Lv 92 swords would not display correctly.
    • Fixed the mistake in the explanation of missions "Clearing Honnouji" and "Clearing Echizen".
    • Fixed a bug wherein the usage of Protection Charm and Protection Charm (Kyoku) prevented experience points from being gained.
    • Fixed a bug wherein following the usage of Protection Charm (Kyoku), the result screen would still display a status of heavy damage.

Summer background teaser

  • Additional information regarding the upcoming event and new background has been revealed.
  • The Underground Treasure Chest (地下に眠る千両箱) will be an event where players can explore the vast mysterious underground area beneath Osaka Castle and collect Koban (小判).
  • Players will be able to return to their citadel at any time and resume their progress from the last cleared floor.
  • Players will be able to participate in the event using any team formation of their choosing.
  • Players who successfully clear all 50 underground floors will receive the new sword Hakata Toushirou as the reward.
  • New background revealed depicting a refreshing summer veranda together with a swaying wind chime. Accessories for the citadel are are also planned.
  • The official event commencement date along with further news regarding backgrounds is expected to be announced over the next few days.

  • We are pleased to announce that a limited time event titled The Underground Treasure Chest (地下に眠る千両箱) will be implemented in early June. The event is set in Osaka Castle. Your goal is to explore the mysterious underground area beneath the castle and discover the Koban Treasure.
  • The event has been developed so that all players will be able to challenge it and obtain the new sword Hakata Toushirou without fail.
  • In addition, a new summer background as well as various accessories for the citadel are also in development. Further details regarding the event and backgrounds will be released in the upcoming days so please stay tuned.

  • The bug in which Archers and Musketeers appear to attack twice during the long-range phase has now been corrected. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we ask that players who are still experiencing the error to restart their browsers. Furthermore, this error was limited to animation playback only, and all swords' statuses were as if no second attacks had ever taken place.
  • The Repair (手入) campaign has ended.
  • Since the Niconico Choukaigi Ouen Thank You (ニコニコ超会議 応援ありがとう) campaign has been positively received by the playerbase, please enjoy the 10x drop rate for Nagasone Kotetsu and Urashima Kotetsu from the Kebiishi from hereonafter.
  • The probability of reaching the boss node of the Sanjou Bridge (三条大橋) map has been increased.

  • Fixed an error in which even if the player had 0 Help Tokens, the option to use them was still able to be chosen at the Smithing screen before forging a sword.
  • Fixed a bug in which the MVP sword would have their normal sprite displayed instead of their battle sprite at the results screen if the battle had been won with the long-range phase only.
  • Fixed a typo on the Repairs screen in which resources (資源) had been written as raw materials (資材).

  • The two servers added on April 24, Mutsu no Kuni (陸奥国) and Chikuzen no Kuni (筑前国), have reached full capacity. Thank you for your participation. As all the servers are now full, no new users may register. Sorry for the inconvenience, but to give us a little more time to create new servers, we are preparing for the existing servers' capacity to be extended soon. We will make an announcement once the details have been finalized.

  • Some of the bug reports we have received may have been caused by simultaneously playing the game in multiple browsers with the same account.   • Two new servers, Mutsu no Kuni (陸奥国) and Chikuzen no Kuni (筑前国), have been added.
  • Start of the Kotetsu Double Drop Rate Campaign (虎徹入手率2倍キャンペーン). The drop rates for Nagasone Kotetsu and Urashima Kotetsu after a battle with the Kebiishi have been doubled.
  • The resource display on the top of the screen has been modified to update after the animations for armory dismantling, sword dismantling, and expeditions are finished.
  • When a sword equipped with a charm enters Awakening and is broken in the same battle, a bug wherein the Library does not update with the Awakening portrait after the sword has been resurrected by the charm has been fixed.

  • ​The next server expansion has been scheduled for the 24th of April, 2015. Two new servers will be added: Mutsu no Kuni (陸奥国) and Chikuzen no Kuni (筑前国).

  • A new stage, Memory of Ikedaya (池田屋の記憶), has been added.
  • The night battle system has been updated.
  • New interactions during Internal Affairs have been added. When Internal Affairs is done with certain combinations of swords, these conversations will occur.
  • Mikazuki Munechika's log-in line has been changed.
  • From Worlds 1-5, all night battles have been replaced with normal battles.
  • After battle, an indicator will display at the results screen (before the ranking is shown) for swords that had been pushed back and could no longer battle.
  • A bug wherein voices no longer play after a battle has been fixed.
  • A bug wherein swords that have been already been pushed back still appear to participate in battles has been fixed.
  • Updates to night battles:
    • The stat bonuses and reductions between types of swords during night battles has been made more pronounced.
    • Archer, Musketeer, and Catapult attacks during night battles can now be evaded.
  • Memory of Ikedaya:
    • Unlike previous eras, as the Memory of Ikedaya takes place on the streets, horses cannot be used. It is possible to equip the horse, but its stat bonuses will not take effect. However, cavalry troops still work as normal.
    • Also, the entire world consists of night battles. Tantou and Wakizashi have an advantage during night battles; adding them to your party will improve combat performance.
  • From 17:00 to 18:15 (GMT+9), on the Memory of Ikedaya, a bug wherein players would not return to the citadel after a boss node has been confirmed. This has since been fixed. We apologize for the inconvenience.
  • An emergency maintenance was conducted from 20:30 - 22:00 (GMT+9). Enemy parameters in the Memory of Ikedaya have been adjusted.

April 18

  • We have received reports from users concerning a black 'failed to initialize' screen on April 16th. We apologize deeply for the inconvenience.
  • As such, users can file a report on which operating system (e.g. Windows Vista, Mac OSX), browser (e.g. IE, Chrome), and antivirus software (Norton) they were using at that time. It will greatly help us during investigation on said black screen.

April 17

  • Start of the Repair Campaign (手入キャンペーン). Repair times will be halved.
  • The new stage is currently scheduled to be released at April 21. Please wait for further announcements regarding the release date.
  • All servers are full. Dates for the new servers will be announced at the end of April.
  • We have recently confirmed that there are a number of players who are unfairly manipulating the game and repeatedly accessing it in unintended ways.
  • Such unfair practices greatly increase the load on the servers and make it difficult for other players to fully enjoy the game.
  • If players are found utilizing such unfair practices, we will take action against these accounts for sake of other players. We ask that players do not use cheat or macro tools.
  • In addition, because playing with a single account on multiple browsers or browser tabs may cause unintended behavior in game, we ask that you please refrain from doing so.

  • We had discovered from 11:00 on April 16th onwards that the Lv. 10-29 Kebiishi in Satsuma no Kuni and Bingo no Kuni were not the weakened versions that were permanently implemented following the Kebiishi Suppression campaign.

  • Below are a list of currently known bugs and issues. We are planning to fix this issues in this order, but we ask for your patience while we are addressing these bugs, and we are sorry for the inconvenience.
    • Bug: If you use the [Remove All] button to remove equips from a sword, then attempt to re-equip the same troops, it appears as if the game does not register the attempt and nothing is equipped. Exiting and re-entering the Formation menu will correctly update the swords to display their equips.
    • From Era 3 onwards, it is not possible to achieve a Rank S Victory rating: This is currently considered an intended feature of the game. It is currently under evaluation, and we may modify it in the future to make the game easier to play.
    • During the long-range attack phase, there are times when some enemies will not be hit: This is currently considered an intended feature of the game. It is currently under evaluation, and we may modify it in the future for the sake of clarity and improving the battle system.
    • FAQ Update: '"Why are my swords not attacking in order of their Mobility stat?"' → While the Mobility stat is a major factor, please note that there are other factors that are taken into account when determining turn order.

  • Emergency maintenance: 15:00 - 15:30 [GMT+9] completed.
  • All accounts have been awarded six (6) Protection Charms (お守り) and three (3) Fuji Ema as compensation for the earlier emergency maintenance to correct the issue regarding the team captain sustaining moderate damage (中傷). Please see earlier notes [2015/03/31] for details about this bug.
  • As part of the on-going inquiry into players affected by this issue, if staff have confirmed your account to have suffered either a loss of swords or a loss of Protection Charms as a result of the bug, the following compensation will be provided.
If you have broken swords because of this issue:
  • To continue playing the game with confidence, six (6) Protection Charms will be awarded.
  • To compensate for the time and materials spent on leveling your swords, five (5) Help Tokens (お手伝い札), 3000 of all resources, and three (3) Dango (仙人団子) will be awarded.
  • To compensate for the inconvenience of sending an inquiry, three (3) Fuji Ema will be awarded.
If you have lost protection charms because of this issue:
  • To compensate for lost Protection Charms, three (3) Protection Charms will be awarded.
  • To compensate for the inconvenience of sending an inquiry, three (3) Fuji Ema will be awarded.
  • If you were affected by this bug, please send an inquiry to the staff and include the issue (ex. swords breaking, protection charms lost) and the approximate date when it occurred. Staff will look into your inquiry as quickly as possible.

  • Emergency maintenance: 22:00 - 23:00 [GMT+9] completed.
  • An emergency maintenance was performed to correct a major bug, in which damage statuses (light/moderate/severe) for all non-captain swords on the team were not being displayed while battling at the Front Lines if the captain had sustained moderate damage (中傷). This may have led to players accidentally breaking swords or losing equipped protection charms.
  • The staff are currently looking into how many players may have been affected by this bug and will be compensating for any loss of swords or protection charms at a later date, which will be announced on the official Twitter and community forums.
  • If you were affected by this bug, please send an inquiry to the staff and include the issue (ex. swords breaking, protection charms lost) and the approximate date when it occurred. Staff will look into your inquiry as quickly as possible.

  • The Equipment Creation Campaign (刀装キャンペーン) has ended.
  • The Kebiishi Suppression Campaign (検非違使討伐キャンペーン) has been extended for two weeks, until the April 14th maintenance.
  • You can now clear the 「いざ出陣」mission (Obtain a victory of Rank C or higher at the Front Lines) with a Kebiishi encounter.
  • Fixed a bug where the troops' health displayed differed from actual values at the PvP results screen.
  • Viewing recollections from the library will now display the background of the battlefield in which they take place.
  • Corrected typos in Recollections, Honebami Toushirou's sword library entry, and the description for the Memory of the Meiji Restoration battlefields.
  • Fixed a bug where sword stats displayed in the Formation screen were incorrect.
  • Fixed an issue with critical hits sometimes not pushing the enemy formation backwards.
  • The Memory of the Meiji Restoration, Hakodate battlefield (1-1) has been adjusted to more easily reach the boss node.

      • For the duration of the event, Kebiishi encountered by parties with the highest level sword between LV. 10 ~ 29 will be weakened.

      • The probability of making silver (上) and gold (特上) troops is increased.
      • Also, you cannot fail at making troops.
  • Swords now have a new voiceover line whenever they sustain minor injuries (軽傷) during battle.

  • There is now a new line of dialogue spoken by your leader sword (the one in the Citadel) whenever an Expedition returns.
  • When unlocking swords that are over Lv. 2 in the Formation menu, the game will pop-up with a message confirming the player's decision to unlock this sword (which will cause it to appear in the Refinery and Dismantling menus).
  • The encounter rates for Kebiishi on Memory of the Meiji Restoration and Memory of Edo (Eras 1 and 2) have been significantly reduced.
  • Fixed a bug where Uguisumaru was required to be in the party with Hotarumaru and Aizen Kunitoshi to clear Objective B26 (Complete a Sortie with 2 or more Rai clan members in the party).
  • Start of the Weekend Campaign (週末キャンペーン) until the 2015/03/24 maintenance
  • For the duration of the event, the three-hour expeditions have enhanced rewards!
    • Auditing the Ashoro Fields (B2): 250 Whetstone, 50 Steel → 300 Whetstone, 70 Steel
    • Cause of Revolt (C2): 150 Whetstone, 100 Steel, 60 Coolant → 200 Whetstone, 110 Steel, 70 Coolant
  • Also, if you achieve a Great Success (大成功), you will gain the bonus to resources as listed above, and an additional Help Token (in addition to the one obtained for a Great Success).
    • Please note, if you fail the expedition, you will not receive any resources.
    • If you send your swords on B2 or C2 before the 2015/03/24 maintenance and they return after the conclusion of the 2015/03/24 maintenance, all rewards for a Success and Great Success will be the normal, unenhanced rewards.
  • Repair times have been cut in half!
    • Please note that resources required for repairs remain at their usual values.

  • A new feature has been added to the Front Lines: formidable enemies called the Kebiishi (検非違使) may appear.
    • Kebiishi: police commissioners during the Heian period (AD 794-1185)
  • The Kebiishi are strong enemies that may appear when clearing the same battlefield area several times.
  • The two new swords, Nagasone Kotetsu and Urashima Kotetsu, may only be obtained rarely from defeating the Kebiishi.

  • Server Expansion: March 10th, 2015
  • ​Two new servers will be added: Bicchuu no Kuni (備中国) and Bungou no Kuni (豊後国)
  • While forging, the recipe system has been modified to make it easier to obtain specific swords.
  • For example: Sword A
    • ALL 100 - 300 5% (Normal Combo) + ALL 200 - 300 5% (Superior Combo)
    • When using the superior combo recipe, 5% + 5% = 10% appearance rate
    • Swords made by current recipes will still be obtainable.
  • All ema effects have been increased; rarer swords have a higher probability of appearing.
  • The Expedition Enhancement (遠征強化) campaign will come to an end.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Fixed a bug where swords over the level limit would erroneously recover fatigue
    • This includes experience points, drops, etc. obtained by swords that are over the level limit
    • Please not that the items listed above will no longer be obtainable by swords that are over the level limit
    • After considering players' opinions, we have decided to implement this bug fix at a later date in order to avoid confusion.

February 20

  • A bug introduced from the 2015/02/17 maintenance that caused loading issues with the 1-on-1 single combat cutscene (一騎打ち) was fixed.
  • There will be a small system maintenance on 2015/02/25 from 03:00 - 08:00 [GMT+9]. During this time the game will still be accessible, but players will be unable to access the in-game store or purchase DMM points.

  • Fixed a bug where duplicates of the same sword could be assigned to Internal Affairs.

  • A small correction was made so that the TouDan's new boss node voiceover line will not overlap with their "Enemy search" line if their boss node line is too long. Now, the boss node line will finish completely before moving on to the enemy search cutscene.

  • Two new TouDan have been announced and will be implemented sometime after the 2015/02/17 maintenance:
    • Nagasone Kotetsu (Uchigatana): The oldest of the Kotetsu brothers. CV: Shingaki Tarusuke
    • Urashima Kotetsu (Wakizashi): The youngest of the Kotetsu brothers. CV: Fukushima Jun
  • Technical changes:
    • Voice signalling the arrival of a new sword at the forge will now also play when using a help token (手伝い札)
    • New voiceover lines added specifically when reaching a boss node.
    • Loading into the start of a sortie battle is now more efficient.
    • Added an equipment summary screen to the Internal Affairs menu (?)
  • Bug fixes:
    • Fixed a bug with fatigue recovery times after returning from sorties
    • Fixed a bug where the player's maximum resource caps would not increase properly if they leveled up from an expedition
    • Fixed a bug where the shop would incorrectly display [Item x0] when a player used up all of the item (as opposed to removing it from the screen completely)

  • They are experiencing a server error apparently caused by illegal operations (e.g. Cheating user macros, double accounts, etc.)
  • There will be the risk of account deletion/suspension should they find that your account has been involved in those illegal activities (e.g. auctioning account, double accounts, cheating or fraud)

  • Re-balancing of the fatigue system:

  • Details: Error when choosing worlds on Internet Explorer versions that are not IE11; unable to retreat from a Sortie even when team has received heavy damage; Iwatooshi's name on the card is in katakana; edited Sortie 2-3's background; edited Refinery graphics; edited background when you first obtain a sword.
  • The 2015/01/20 maintenance has ended at 15:00 JST. Servers are operating normally.
  • There will be an addition of a new server (world) since all current servers are full. The addition is estimated to be implemented from 2015/01/27.

  • There will be an urgent maintenance on 2015/01/18, from 24:00 JST (19/1/15, 00:00 JST).
  • Error(s): replacement of a faulty equipment which caused the server hardware to malfunction.
  • The 2015/01/19 maintenance has ended at 02:00 JST. Servers are operating normally.

  • Shop does not show full set of [Smithing and Troops Set] items. Will be fixed during the maintenance.
  • Players have reported connection errors with the game. The issue has been fixed.
  • Kogitsunemaru will not be available in-game until 2015/01/23, after the Start Dash maintenance.

As of 2015/01/14, 12:00 JST, Touken Ranbu is officially launched and ready for play. The Repair Rate Up Campaign will run from 2015/01/14 to 2015/01/23, ending before the maintenance. Please refer to Events for more details.
